In a bid to blend the rich tapestry of tradition with modern innovation, SAKEANI JAPAN Inc. has unveiled its latest venture, “Kokushu Seijo,” a unique subscription service set to launch in September 2026. This service aims to marry the enjoyment of seasonal Japanese sake and shochu with the allure of original audio programs. These programs, narrated by professional voice actors, promise to enrich the drinking experience with compelling stories that delve into the history, culture, and techniques of the breweries involved.
Subscribers will enjoy quarterly deliveries of carefully selected sake and shochu, each accompanied by exclusive audio content. The narratives will offer insights into the participating breweries, exploring their distinct brewing methods and the cultural traditions that shape them. This innovative approach stems from an original story project titled “MIZUNO MANIMANI,” which features a fictional water dragon deity and ethereal spirits associated with Japanese breweries. The company is also entertaining the idea of bringing this story to life through an animated adaptation.
The concept for “Kokushu Seijo” was born after a successful launch event in Tokyo in December 2025, attracting around 5,800 attendees. A survey conducted among 511 of these participants revealed a keen interest in learning about the cultural and historical aspects of Japanese sake, overshadowing the appeal of purely character-based entertainment. More than half of those surveyed expressed a desire to hear brewery histories and production stories narrated by voice actors, indicating a market eager for educational and engaging content.
Looking to expand its cultural footprint, SAKEANI JAPAN plans to introduce this service beyond Japan’s borders, starting with JapanFest in Atlanta. The company views this as an opportunity to promote not just its products, but the broader spectrum of Japanese culture and traditional beverages. Discussions are ongoing with potential partners in distribution, media, events, and the entertainment industry to facilitate this international expansion.
Founded in March 2026, SAKEANI JAPAN is based in Tokyo and operates across multiple sectors, including event production, digital content creation, e-commerce, and alcoholic beverage sales. With “Kokushu Seijo,” the company is set to offer an immersive experience that both celebrates and educates about Japan’s rich heritage of sake and shochu.
