The Japanese delegation’s trip follows closely on the heels of a US-China summit in Washington, where Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump discussed various bilateral issues, including trade and artificial intelligence. Originally, the delegation’s visit to China had been postponed due to the passing of former Foreign Minister Yohei Kono, who previously led the trade promotion organization. Despite this delay, the current visit underscores Japan’s commitment to fostering dialogue with China, even amidst ongoing diplomatic challenges.
